Prince2 – is a project management methodology which provides a set of steps that can be used to guide a project from its startup through to completion. The name is derived from Projects in Controlled Environments and the method is widely used particularly in UK public sector organisations. Often criticised as having a high bureaucratic overhead it can be customised and there is even a Prince2 Agile version. Many organisations pay lip service to using Prince2 which often bear little resemblance to the real thing leading to practitioners referring to their methodology as PINO or Prince in Name Only.
