On a Back of an Envelope is an alternative view of project management where you will find a mix of humour, commentary and project management information.

Your host, Mike ‘Captain’ Black is a time-served IT project manager who often wonders what his job has in common with the elite project managers who organise the Olympics, build Crossrail and myriad other prestige projects that he reads about in the professional journals. I hope these pages will offer insights, some amusement and helpful advice to both those starting out as project managers and battle scarred veterans like me who have more modest budgets and resources.

‘Captain’ Black is a chartered IT professional with a masters degree in Project Management and more IT certifications than you can shake a stick at. He is rapidly starting to look like his namesake as he battles to deliver ‘value’ to his stakeholders.
